Andre Heimgartner will join Craft-Bamboo Racing and Devon Modell in the #88 Porsche 911 GT3 R for the Blancpain GT Series Asia finale in Zhejiang this weekend. The final round of the series has been moved forward by a week due to a scheduling change, which has opened up the seat for Heimgartner, and the 22 year old New Zealand driver is eager to get his first Blancpain GT Series Asia challenge underway.
Heimgartner is a hugely experienced driver; he is the youngest person to win the Formula Ford championship, twice, and took a class win in the Bathurst 12 Hour at only 17 years old. Heimgartner later progressed to a full time drive in the V8 Supercars in 2015 and 2016, and with experience in a variety of international championships in Asia, Europe and New Zealand, over the last few years; Heimgartner makes a great fit for Craft-Bamboo. The young Kiwi driver has most recently come away from a very successful weekend at Bathurst, competing in the Bathurst 1000 and taking a P9 finish, while also scoring two wins and a third place podium in the Porsche Carrera Cup. His continued success throughout the 2017 Carrera Cup season sees him currently sit second overall in the drivers’ championship. Thanks to his extensive experience and strong record of results in a Porsche, Heimgartner is ready to make the leap to the Porsche 911 GT3 R and join Craft-Bamboo for the season ending showdown in Zhejiang.
Darryl O'Young, Director, Craft-Bamboo Racing
"We are really pleased to sign Andre for the final round of the Blancpain GT Series Asia in Zhejiang. Being the official technical partner team of Porsche Motorsport in Asia, we enjoy the opportunity to work with young up and coming drivers moving up from the Porsche Carrera Cups. The Porsche 911 GT3 R is a natural progression for young Porsche drivers and we will give Andre all the support he needs to get the most out of the car this weekend. He's coming off a win in Bathurst, and we are excited to get started and aim to finish the season off with a strong result."
