  • Craft-Bamboo Racing to contest ST-X class for 2025 Super Taikyu Championship

  • Jeffrey Lee, Kakunoshin Ohta, and Jayden Ojeda will drive the #33 Mercedes-AMG GT3 for coming round in Suzuka

  • After coming second last year on debut, the team has its sights set on the championship title

Craft-Bamboo Racing has signalled its intent to fight for the 2025 Super Taikyu championship, starting this weekend at round two of what is Japan’s premier endurance racing series.

Having missed out on the championship trophy by just 4.5 points last year in what was its debut season, the Hong Kong based team is highly motivated to go one further this year, starting at Suzuka across April 26 and 27.

Craft-Bamboo Racing will compete in the ST-X class with the #33 Mercedes-AMG GT3, driven by Jeffrey Lee (TPE), Kakunoshin Ohta (JPN), and Jayden Ojeda (AUS) for the Suzuka round. We expect some small shuffles to the line-ups throughout the season which will be announced at a later date.

All three drivers competed with Craft-Bamboo Racing in Super Taikyu across the team’s highly successful 2024 campaign, which included two race wins, two further podium finishes, and three overall pole positions.

Jeffrey Lee is a GT veteran and long-time Craft-Bamboo Racing campaigner who boasts extensive and vital endurance racing experience with the Mercedes-AMG GT3.

For Kakunoshin Ohta, this will be his second season with Craft-Bamboo Racing, with the Japanese driver holding a wealth of knowledge when it comes to racing in Japan. He is currently driving at the top of his game with plenty of success in Super Formula and Super GT, and we hope to extend that success to Super Taikyu.

Australian young gun Jayden Ojeda is also part of Craft-Bamboo Racing’s GT World Challenge Asia line-up, with the Mercedes-AMG Junior Driver undertaking a heavy racing program at home in Australia and internationally. Ojeda too is driving at a high level, and looking to deliver during his Suzuka debut.

With a strong relationship already in place between the team and its drivers, Craft-Bamboo Racing is well positioned to hit the ground running as it looks to launch its championship campaign at Suzuka.

Super Taikyu hosts exciting long-distance competition from professional and amateur drivers at some of Japan’s best race tracks, including the 5.807km Suzuka Circuit.

The circuit has gained world recognition for its unusual figure of eight layout and offers a demanding yet rewarding challenge to drivers thanks to its high-speed sections and wide array of corner types.

Super Taikyu is running a seven-round calendar in 2025. Fans can follow along with all the action at Suzuka this weekend with a live stream available on the Super Taikyu YouTube Channel and on the official series website at www.supertaikyu.com

“I couldn’t be happier to be teaming up with Craft-Bamboo Racing once again to take on the Super Taikyu series. We came so close to the ultimate victory last season, and I know we will all be trying our very best to make sure that we can go one better and take out the title this time around. I can’t wait to get started at Suzuka this weekend and look forward to working with Kaku and Jayden again.”

Kakunoshin Ohta

Driver, #33 Craft-Bamboo Racing

“I am very excited to be able to participate in the Super Taikyu series again this year as a member of Craft-Bamboo Racing. Last year, we performed particularly well in the qualifying and were able to win two races in the season, but this year we will do our best to achieve even better results than last year.” Jiatong Liang

Jayden Ojeda

Driver #33 Craft-Bamboo Racing

“I am super excited to be joining the Super Taikyu series at Suzuka! We had a very competitive season last year, so I think we all share some high ambitions again this year. It will be my first time driving on the iconic Suzuka circuit so this will be a very cool opportunity and another fantastic Japanese circuit that I will get to learn.”
