A few weeks ago, Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Racing announced its return to racing with confirmed entry to the second round of the 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli at the Indianapolis 8 Hour presented by AWS. The highly anticipated racing action will get underway on Friday, where the #99 Mercedes-AMG GT3 will lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the first time in the official Free Practice session.
Mercedes-AMG Team Craft-Bamboo Racing will feature a full Mercedes-AMG factory driver line-up with Luca Stolz (GER), Jules Gounon (FRA) and Maro Engel (GER).
The weekend in Indiana is gearing up to be a fascinating race with the largest-ever entry of 41 cars for an Intercontinental GT Challenge round in North America. For Craft-Bamboo Racing this is the first IGTC appearance outside of the Asia-Pacific.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most iconic tracks in the world when it comes to motorsport history. Home to the world-renowned Indy 500, the track boasts seating capacity numbers like no other sports venue in the world. It has a permanent seating capacity of almost 260,000 along with infield seating which raises the total to nearly 400,000. The Indianapolis 8 Hour will take place on the road course featuring a series of 15 technical corners and a burst to the start-finish line on the main straight, making it the perfect setting for exciting GT racing action.
